Pescaphor

(n.) a symbol or metaphor that just isn't really there. Stems from Spanish 'pescar', to fish.

Ex. "Snakes on a Plane is such a brilliant metaphor for America's war in Iraq, not to mention the immigration problem...."

also: pescaphorize (v.) the act of finding and expounding on a pescaphor.
